I am growing and growing, every day.
Meanwhile I am living in Zurich, Switzerland. It is quite the opposite of London I have to say. I considered myself a quite urban photographer. Suddenly there is nothing urban around me anymore. Cows, goats, sheep, plenty of different plants and massive grasshopper. Hm. I feel like I have to start from scratch anyhow.
Feeling like a fish out of the water.
Today was the first day I just took my camera and walked around for a bit. Just for taking pictures. It took me several weeks to do that. I have to find inspiration somewhere else. London just served its quirkiness on a huge tray – ‘Here I am, take a picture.’ It was so easy to see the photos all around you, screaming for attention.
But here….
It is quiet.
I have to learn to listen and to see. There is nothing flashy.
In London I used caffeine to open all my perceptive doors.. to let it all in… Here I need meditation and inner calmness to focus my attention on one little ‘facet/thing/aspect’ and to realize its subtleness… it is hard to capture it.
Starting to broaden my horizon – maybe I am starting now on the other side of the spectrum?
Well. We bought a pram with a huge basket so that I can tuck in my camera as well…

Yes, it has been pretty quiet here for the last few months. I have been quite busy, just in a different way… The trip to Bournemouth in February was a bit more fruitful than expected: offspring is on his way. We are delighted.
Meanwhile I got the distinction of Licentiateship awarded from the Royal Photographic Society. More info here. It is an utter joy that I made it, – and here is the link to an overview of the panel that I handed in and which was assessed end of May.
What else is new? – We are moving for some time to Zuerich in Switzerland. Who knows for how long… Photography-wise I am a bit scared. I can’t imagine Zuerich to be as inspirational as London. But we will see… Time will tell, as always.

A short trip to Germany. Flight was delayed. I was bored. It is easy to pull out your camera in front of the Tower Bridge or the Louvre. It is tricky to get a photo when you are bored and completely not inspired. I took it as an opportunity to enforce ’seeing’. Even if you cannot move, make the best out of your situation.

Quite quiet here, isn’t it?
No, I am not lazy. Just the opposite. I have the opportunity to take pictures during the ‘Southwark Mysteries’ rehearsals. More info is here:
100 Days of Southwark Mysteries blog or check out the The Southwark Mysteries with link to buy tickets!
Reserve the date and grab a ticket: 22nd, 23rd, 24th April 2010 at 7.15pm (doors open: 6.45) in Southwark Cathedral

Two new photos… I have the feeling that I was quite lucky with the weather and the light. The feeling that I want to live at the sea one day is stronger than ever. Funnily enough I didn’t think so when I was living in Dublin. (I commuted every day along the sea shore. It was marvelous to see the tides and lighthouse every time…)

We went to Bournemouth for the weekend. Was a really nice break from the city. I really enjoyed the beach and the sunset (as well as the sunrise) quite a lot. It is utterly tricky to get good shots. So here are a few shots that might not be technically perfect, but anyhow I like them. More to follow…

Last year my husband’s grandpa sadly died. We went to Germany for the funeral. The cemetery is protected by an ocean of German oaks. We both picked up two oak acorns and planted them… meanwhile one of them is growing and growing visibly every day. It is a treat to watch it. The other one has already strong roots as well. That is nature, yes. And for me it is a wonderful sign of hope.

These photos are from 20 Dec 2009. After the filter hassle on that very day – click to read – I went to The Shard again. It is one of my long term projects and anyhow I hope that I will still be here in London when it is complete. Who knows. Right now I am completely addicted to London… Wish I could afford a flat in the new Elephant and Castle building (”Castle House“) or within Battersea PowerStation. Until then I can only take photos of them…
